Benefits
The scholarship amount is $5,000 or $10,000. The tenure of the Tongarewa Scholarship is 1 year. This scholarship is for partial fees.
Recipients of the Tongarewa scholarships are guaranteed an offer of a place in one of Residence Halls, provided that the application for an accommodation is received by University Accommodation Wellington by their deadline.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligible candidates have to meet these conditions:
❶Entering their first year of a postgraduate degree or entering an undergraduate degree.
❷Being international students who are paying full international fees
Please, note that you are not eligible for the Tongarewa Scholarship if you:
▶Finished the Foundation Studies Program or the English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
▶Finished your secondary education at a New Zealand school
▶are in your second year of study in the same degree program at Victoria University of Wellington.
▶are a Study Abroad or Twinning student from one of overseas partner universities of the Victoria University of Wellington

Important Dates
The deadlines for applications submission vary by trimester as follows: For (1) Trimester 1 is November 30; (2) For Trimester 2 is June 1; and for (3) Trimester 3 is September 1.
It is important to note that applications will normally open one month before the application deadline.
Please keep in mind that a completed online application need to be submitted by 4.30 pm on the deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be acceptable. Any supporting materials (comprising references) need to be received by 4.30 pm on the application deadline for the application to be taken into consideration.
