Eligibility Criteria

Candidates eligible for this award need to fulfill these requirements:

❶Being a graduate student at the University of Chicago who will be enrolled for the full academic year.

❷Awardees are expected to contribute their unique interests and perspectives to the International House community and to become completely engaged in the multi-faceted life of the House by means of a wide array of new activities for the University of Chicago grads awarded throughout the year through the Graduate Commons Program. 

❸Selected graduate Fellows need to maintain good academic performance and to abide by all of the policies and rules of the University of Chicago and International House.

❹Please keep in mind that graduate fellows also have to demonstrate ongoing involvement in the International House community and will need to submit a statement every quarter which highlights their participation.

Selection Process

During the selection process, factors including, but not limited to (1) the involvement in community and university organizations, (2) leadership abilities proof, (3) extracurricular interests in areas like performing athletics, cultural activities, and arts, (4) contributing to increasing diversity, and (5) community service participation.

Important Dates

The deadlines for the submission of applications vary with the decision date:  (1) 5pm CST March 25 for April 8 decision, (2) 5pm CST April 29 for May 13 decision, and (3) 5pm CST June 17 for July 1 decision.
